why do men cheat?

Hey gang,

Sorry, I know class has come to an end, but I just can’t help myself!

I’m sitting at home on the computer and I hear my mom yell from the living room, “Tory! You have to read this Cosmo!”

Ugh, I know what you’re thinking… “Tory’s mom reads Cosmo?!” Well to answer your question, yes she does only because she got me a year-long subscription last year for Christmas and failed to have it sent to school. So now, every month my parents get the lovely, slightly tacky-cliché magazine and read it for shits and giggles.

Anyway, back to my story… she continues to rant and rave, “There’s an article all about the brain! ‘What you need to know about his brain–and yours’. You really should look at this. There are ‘five love-related areas where our brains are mismatched…'”

Hmm… sex differences in the brain?!? NO WAY!!

So I urge you all to pick up the latest Cosmopolitan magazine (Jan 2011)…lord help us… and flip to pages 79 and 85: “What you need to know about his brain–and yours” and the “Moment he’s most likely to cheat”. I thought that cheating article would have been great for Sam’s chapter. It cites a few psychology studies, one of which was just published in the journal Hormones and Behavior that describes a man’s confusion between a hormonal surge with intimate feelings or love as a key contributor to cheating. But of course, we all love a happy ending… when love prevails!

  1. I read this article and thought of Sam’s chapter too! Great article by Cosmo I must say. This article on HerCampus.com was also pretty great and has to do with a similar line. A psychologist says after a partner deals with the loss of someone close to him, maybe a sibling or parent, his stress may lead him to cheat and make irrational, out of character decisions.. Interesting.
